JUMBO is stepping out in style with the new in-store revamp

The JUMBO team is excited to announce that we have officially kicked off the national in-store revamp rollout. Five stores have been completed to date, and we could not be more proud of the result. All credit goes to Jumbo’s National Visual Merchandise Manager, Byron Tandel, Angelo Woodman and the maintenance team, who did an outstanding job bringing all the different elements together.


We caught up with Byron for behind-the-scenes information about the inspiration for the new look and feel and what you can expect when stepping into a new-look store.

 


What was the inspiration behind the in-store revamp project?

 

JUMBO Clothing has provided smiles and excitement through affordable fashion for over 36 years. Our vision as a leading retailer is to excite our customers when visiting and shopping in our stores.


Our goal is to be South Africans’ favourite clothing destination and be their best-loved retail brand. To achieve this, we need to stay relevant, be aware of market trends, and connect to the world in which we live.


We aim to be competitive by offering our customers a shopping environment whereby they experience the following:

  • A visually appealing, exciting, and enjoyable store
  • Well-planned floor rail gridding and clear drive aisle walkways, navigating through the store departments with ease
  • Architecturally planned floor layout and upgraded wall and floor equipment that optimises space per square metre, creating a convenient customer journey throughout the store
  • Trendy and fashionable colourways and lifestyle theme wardrobe building, greenery and décor elements create a welcoming and cosy store environment.

 


Which stores have been revamped to date?

 

A total of five JUMBO stores have received the new make-over already, with more in the pipeline.


Eastern Cape

·  JUMBO Bowls Road, East London

·  JUMBO Buffalo Street, East London

·  JUMBO Peddie, Victoria Street, East London 

·  JUMBO King Williams Town, Corner Downing Street


Western Cape

·  JUMBO George, Hibernia Street


We aim to have all our stores revamped with the new look and feel; therefore, a well-structured roll-out strategy is effectively in place.



 

What can we look forward to when walking into a JUMBO store that has been revamped?

 

The main goal is engagement: you will experience sheer indulgence from the moment you enter the store. Our friendly and helpful staff will acknowledge customers and be charmed by the attractive visual store layout and design. Our trendy fashion will complete the brand experience with style, quality products and affordable prices that will always leave you wanting to return.


We aim to inspire our customers by adding attention to detail; from the fitting rooms to the pay points, customers should enjoy an effortless shopping experience. 



 

What about new store features, colours, finishes, and sections? 


It was essential to create an easy flow throughout the store. By implementing new and modern wall and sales floor equipment, we optimised space and enhanced the ease of shopping.


Other features include new wooden décor and display stands, silky aniseed coloured walls with a dash of warm red that ties in with the JUMBO brand. This new colour scheme emphasises the beautiful merchandise and creates an appealing store atmosphere.




Finally, how does the store revamp tie in with the theme of “JUMBO Love”?


We demonstrate our love for our customers by giving them the latest trends in fashion and value for money. We offer the best store design and an easy shopping experience, supported by visual and interactive signage.


Ultimately, JUMBO Love is about the visual appeal of the stores, the products, and merchandising that creates quick and easy fashion solutions for our customers.
