JUMBO Clothing continues to support school sporting achievement with the JUMBO Sports Excellence Scholarship 2023.

Since 2017, JUMBO has been awarding an annual sports scholarship to outstanding young players from schools for exceptional performance in a team sport. Teamwork is integral to the JUMBO ethos, which is why the scholarship is awarded only to those who embody the JUMBO values of pride, passion, positivity, and caring in sport.

One of the shining examples of these values in action is the recipient of the 2022 JUMBO Sports Excellence Scholarship, the outstanding Sibabalwe Mahashe, a rugby player from Hudson Park High School in East London. As SA Schools Captain 2022 and Captain of the Border u/18 Craven Week team 2022, Sibabalwe has proved himself to be an exceptional leader and undeniable talent. Recently, Sibabalwe was selected to captain the SA U/18 Rugby team, winning Player of the Series in the international test against France and England, and leading his team to a remarkable 49-17 victory over France. Sibabalwe is contracted to Lions Rugby Company for 2023, and we wish him all the best for what is bound to be a spectacular career.

Recipients of the JUMBO Sports Excellence Scholarship each receive a cash scholarship of R10 000, paid to their school to support their sporting or academic needs, along with a monthly shopping voucher to the value of R500 redeemable at any JUMBO store.
