Ma Phindi Mkhaba is a devoted mother and grandmother who loves her church and gospel music. Sharing with others is one of her most outstanding character traits - focusing on assisting young women in finding the right balance between family life and their careers.

She joined when JUMBO operated less than five stores in the former Transkei, East London and Port Elizabeth. At the pinnacle of her career, Phindi managed all the stores in the former Transkei region.
Phindi is driven, determined, and enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service, prioritising training for her team, and motivating them to give their best.
Her vision for the JUMBO team was always greatness. “I loved it when we would achieve and exceed sales targets in my area,” she says. The rural nature of the former Transkei made getting to all of the stores challenging. Still, Phindi knew she had to be flexible about hours and sacrificed time with her family to achieve her goals.
“The culture of the company is its greatest strength. We have always worked as a family, and that’s what makes us different from our competitors,” says Phindi.
Phindi’s discipline, determination, and hard work are an impeccable combination. When approached by our CEO to once again grace the JUMBO team with her wealth of institutional knowledge, Phindi could not resist the challenge. Phindi lives by the motto “strive and prosper, shoot for the stars but aim for the moon”.
Phindi spends her leisure time with her children and grandkids and enjoys keeping an eye on the news and catching up on some of her favourite TV programmes - Uzalo and The Bold & The Beautiful. With her keen interest in business and economics, we look forward to Phindi’s stamp of excellence on all JUMBO stores!
